15.2 Recognising road slipperiness
Roads are especially slippery when the temperature is close to 0 degrees Celcius. When starting on a slippery surface, avoid wheelspin. Use the throttle gently and lift the clutch slowly.
Poor traction makes the steering become lighter, this is one way to recognise poor traction when driving.
So called black ice can surprise a driver in a shady parts of a road where water can freeze. Bridges are especially dangerous in autumn because their surfaces freeze earlier than other parts of the road.
If you are forced to drive on a road that has tire paths, look far ahead and avoid sudden steering.
